The weekly day of rest, from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday.
The foundational appointed time — a sign between YHWH and Yisra'el forever.
Spring Feasts (Aviv / Nisan)
Passover — commemorating the Exodus from Mitsrayim. The lamb is slaughtered at twilight on Nisan 14.
Remembrance of YHWH's deliverance of Yisra'el from bondage in Mitsrayim.
Feast of Unleavened Bread — seven days beginning Nisan 15. No leaven in your homes.
Seven days of eating matzot, removing chametz — a picture of separating from sin.
Day of First Fruits — the first sheaf of the barley harvest is waved before YHWH.
The counting of the Omer begins — 49 days counting toward Shavuot.
Feast of Weeks — 50 days after First Fruits. Celebration of the wheat harvest and the giving of Torah at Sinai.
Commemoration of the Torah given at Sinai; also known as the Feast of Harvest.
Fall Feasts (Tishri)
Day of Trumpets / Shouting — the first day of the seventh month. A day of blowing the shofar.
A sacred assembly marked by the blast of the shofar — awakening and calling to repentance.
Day of Atonement — the most solemn day of the year. A complete fast and sabbath of rest.
The Kohen Gadol enters the Holy of Holies. Kapparah (atonement) for all Yisra'el.
Feast of Tabernacles — seven days of dwelling in booths, remembering the wilderness journey.
Living in sukkot for seven days, waving the four species — a joyful celebration before YHWH.
The Eighth Day Assembly — a solemn assembly immediately following Sukkot.
A distinct mo'ed — an intimate gathering closing the fall festival season.
