2 Samuel · Chapter 5
Then came all the tribes of Yisra'el to Dawid unto Chevron, and spake, saying, Behold, we
are thy bone and thy flesh.
Also in time past, when Sha'ul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Yisra'el: and 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Yisra'el, and thou shalt be a captain over Yisra'el.
So all the elders of Yisra'el came to the king to Chevron; and king Dawid made a league with them in Chevron before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH): and they anointed Dawid king over Yisra'el.
Dawid
was thirty years old when he began to reign,
and
he reigned forty years.
In Chevron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Yerushalayim he reigned thirty and three years over all Yisra'el and Judah.
And the king and his men went to Yerushalayim unto the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto Dawid, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking, Dawid cannot come in hither.
Nevertheless Dawid took the strong hold of Tsiyon: the same
is
the city of Dawid.
And Dawid said on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind,
that are hated of Dawid’s nephesh,
he shall be chief and captain. Wherefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.
So Dawid dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of Dawid. And Dawid built round about from Millo and inward.
And Dawid went on, and grew great, and 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) Elohim of hosts
was
with him.
And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to Dawid, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons: and they built Dawid an house.
And Dawid perceived that 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) had established him king over Yisra'el, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Yisra'el’s sake.
And Dawid took
him more concubines and wives out of Yerushalayim, after he was come from Chevron: and there were yet sons and daughters born to Dawid.
And these
be the names of those that were born unto him in Yerushalayim; Shammuah, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Shelomoh,
Ibhar also, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
And Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.
But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed Dawid king over Yisra'el, all the Philistines came up to seek Dawid; and Dawid heard
of it, and went down to the hold.
The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
And Dawid enquired of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH), saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) said unto Dawid, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.
And Dawid came to Baal-perazim, and Dawid smote them there, and said, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baal-perazim.
And there they left their images, and Dawid and his men burned them.
And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
And when Dawid enquired of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH), he said, Thou shalt not go up;
but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.
And Dawid did so, as 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer.

2 Samuel · Chapter 6
Again, Dawid gathered together all
the chosen
men
of Yisra'el, thirty thousand.
And Dawid arose, and went with all the people that
were with him from Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of Elohim, whose name is called by the name of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) of hosts that dwelleth
between the cherubims.
And they set the ark of Elohim upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that
was in Gibeah: and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drave the new cart.
And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab which
was
at Gibeah, accompanying the ark of Elohim: and Ahio went before the ark.
And Dawid and all the house of Yisra'el played before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) on all manner of
instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals.
And when they came to Nachon’s threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth
his hand to the ark of Elohim, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook
it.
And the anger of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) was kindled against Uzzah; and Elohim smote him there for
his error; and there he died by the ark of Elohim.
And Dawid was displeased, because 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) had made a breach upon Uzzah: and he called the name of the place Perez-uzzah to this day.
And Dawid was afraid of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) that day, and said, How shall the ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) come to me?
So Dawid would not remove the ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) unto him into the city of Dawid: but Dawid carried it aside into the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.
And the ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) continued in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite three months: and 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) blessed Obed-edom, and all his household.
And it was told king Dawid, saying, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) hath blessed the house of Obed-edom, and all that
pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of Elohim. So Dawid went and brought up the ark of Elohim from the house of Obed-edom into the city of Dawid with gladness.
And it was
so, that when they that bare the ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) had gone six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fatlings.
And Dawid danced before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) with all
his might; and Dawid
was girded with a linen ephod.
So Dawid and all the house of Yisra'el brought up the ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.
And as the ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) came into the city of Dawid, Michal Sha'ul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw king Dawid leaping and dancing before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH); and she despised him in her heart.
And they brought in the ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH), and set it in his place, in the midst of the mishkan that Dawid had pitched for it: and Dawid offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH).
And as soon as Dawid had made an end of offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) of hosts.
And he dealt among all the people,
even among the whole multitude of Yisra'el, as well to the women as men, to every one a cake of bread, and a good piece
of flesh, and a flagon
of wine.
So all the people departed every one to his house.
Then Dawid returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Sha'ul came out to meet Dawid, and said, How glorious was the king of Yisra'el today, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!
And Dawid said unto Michal,
It was before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH), which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH), over Yisra'el: therefore will I play before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH).
And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour.
Therefore Michal the daughter of Sha'ul had no child unto the day of her death.

2 Samuel · Chapter 7
And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) had given him rest round about from all his enemies;
That the king said unto Nathan the navi, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of Elohim dwelleth within curtains.
And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that
is in thine heart; for 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH)
is with thee.
And it came to pass that night, that the word of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) came unto Nathan, saying,
Go and tell my servant Dawid, Thus saith 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH), Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in?
Whereas I have not dwelt in
any house since the time that I brought up the children of Yisra'el out of Mitsrayim, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a mishkan.
In all
the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Yisra'el spake I a word with any of the tribes of Yisra'el, whom I commanded to feed my people Yisra'el, saying, Why build ye not me an house of cedar?
Now therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant Dawid, Thus saith 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Yisra'el:
And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great
men that
are in the earth.
Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Yisra'el, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime,
And as since the time that I commanded judges
to be over my people Yisra'el, and have caused thee to rest from all thine enemies. Also 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) telleth thee that he will make thee an house.
And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.
He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.
I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:
But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took
it
from Sha'ul, whom I put away before thee.
And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.
According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto Dawid.
Then went king Dawid in, and sat before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH), and he said, Who
am I, O master 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH)? and what
is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?
And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O master 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH); but thou hast spoken also of thy servant’s house for a great while to come. And
is
this the manner of man, O master 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH)?
And what can Dawid say more unto thee? for thou, master 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH), knowest thy servant.
For thy word’s sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all these great things, to make thy servant know
them.
Wherefore thou art great, O 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) Elohim: for
there is none like thee, neither
is there any Elohim beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
And what one nation in the earth
is like thy people,
even like Yisra'el, whom Elohim went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Mitsrayim,
from
the nations and their gods?
For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Yisra'el
to be
a people unto thee for ever: and thou, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH), art become their Elohim.
And now, O 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) Elohim, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, establish
it for ever, and do as thou hast said.
And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) of hosts
is the Elohim over Yisra'el: and let the house of thy servant Dawid be established before thee.
For thou, O 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) of hosts, Elohim of Yisra'el, hast revealed to thy servant, saying, I will build thee an house: therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer unto thee.
And now, O master 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH), thou
art that Elohim, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:
Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O master 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH), hast spoken
it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.
